SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE

The ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT plays a huge role within accounting/finance department. The Accounting Assistant provides an opportunity in accounting, paperwork management, and bookkeeping, and is well suited for anyone with an accounting and customer service background or an individual with proven detail skill sets. The Accounting Assistant requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to utilize software programs and interact with suppliers and fellow employees in a friendly manner.

OTHER DUTIES
The ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT:

Supports duties related to accounts payable and other accounting/administrative functions including answering and directing phone calls,
-
Files all checks, paperwork, invoices, and other documents in a timely manner,
-
Keeps track, processes, and reconciles payments and expenditures,
-
Ensures correct approval, sorting & matching of invoices,
-
Maintains a workbook on deposits or advance payments required by vendors,
-
Liaises with internal personnel and external suppliers and clients,
-
Processes all invoices and undertakes payment of all creditors in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner, under authority of the Accounts Payable Manager and Controller,
-
Looks to continuously improve the payment process,
-
Compiles and prepares routine reports and summaries,
-
May be asked to participate in audit reviews,
-
May be asked to do other duties as assigned.

Proven work experience as an accounts payable clerk/customer service or any administrative related duties.
-
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles.
-
Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records.
-
Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.

Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software.
-
Proficiency in English and in MS Office.

Customer service orientation and negotiation skills.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
​
This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, calculator, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and more.
​
​
​
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift filed, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. Frequent typing on a keyboard and use of a calculator is usual.
​
​
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with allotted break times. This position occasionally requires hours outside of normal business hours.
​
​
There may be occasional local day travel.
​
​

Associate Degree in accounting and/or other related field.
-
Experience with Sage or other accounting software.
​
